Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 11,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.

Position:  Speech-Language Pathologist

Region:  London and Middlesex

Description:  We are currently recruiting for a regular, full time (37.5 hours/week) Speech-Language Pathologist in School Therapy Services. The designated office for this position will be London. This position is based on the school year and no work is available during school breaks.

This exciting role provides therapy services to students in schools in Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties and involves working with a variety of fellow clinicians, educators and parents to help children and youth achieve meaningful outcomes in their ability to communicate.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide mainly school based intervention including screening, assessment and consultation regarding speech development, articulation, fluency, voice, resonance, basic augmentative communication needs and swallowing;
  • Intervention can be direct, mediated or consultative and may be in groups or include virtual modalities;
  • Provide education for clients, families and school personnel
  • Plan services as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes the family, other care providers, school board personnel, volunteers, staff from other agencies, and other TVCC staff;
  • Occasional work contracted from Ontario Health atHome (formerly Home and Community Care Support Services) for in home and private school services. This may on rare occasions be in the evenings or on weekends;
  • Participate in ongoing program development;
  • Clinical supervision of support personnel, students and initial practice registrants within the guidelines of CASLPO may be required.

Qualifications:
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Experience in pediatrics is preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office 365 and videoconferencing software (ex. Teams)
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Ability to provide services in French would be an asset

Salary:  $39.81 - $49.76 per hour

Terms of Employment:  Full-time
