Service Description: Card which verifies proof of permanent residency status in Canada for immigrants who are not Canadian citizens * used for re-entry into Canada * permanent residents outside Canada who do not have one can get a permanent resident travel document to return to Canada

New permanent residents receive a card following the approval of their permanent residency application * permanent residents need to apply for the card if the permanent resident card is lost, destroyed, expired or will expire or there has been a name change
